Punch

The brief for this project was to reinterpret a well-known character, in this instance, Punch from Punch & Judy shows.

I think what interested me most from watching different Punch & Judy shows while researching was the theme of domestic abuse and violence, despite the show having mainly a child audience. I chose to focus on this for my work, creating a book for adults using a mock children's book style to highlight something seemingly harmless and fun from the exterior, to hide the somewhat mature subject matter which is revealed as the story progresses.
